COLOURFUL ROMSEY
LATIMER STREET

The building itself is very old, being timber framed with lathe and plaster infill. On entering it is necessary to step down into the room that opens directly onto the street. It is said that ‘Latimer’ derives from an old word meaning a slow moving stream. In 1974 it was established that the cellar, which has a stone arch showed evidence of brewing.
If you are interested in the pubs and inns of Romsey, the book, So Drunk He Must Have Been To Romsey, published by the LTVAS can be purchased from the Visitor Centre.
