COLOURFUL ROMSEY
THE HUNDRED
Picture Below:
The Tavern public house, previously know as the Phoenix
The present pub is thought to stand on the site of a much older one.
The name Phoenix suggests that the building arose from the ashes of its predecessor. The present building is 19th century, but stands over a Tudor cellar.
If you are interested in the pubs and inns of Romsey, the book, So Drunk He Must Have Been To Romsey, published by the LTVAS can be purchased from the Visitor Centre.
