COLOURFUL  ROMSEY

THE HUNDRED - PUBLIC HOUSE ( Bishop Blaize)

LOVE LANE - PUBLIC HOUSE (The Old House at Home)

Bishop Blaize

By Romsey standards, this is a middle aged pub, since it appears to date from the 18th century. The name of the Bishop Blaize is a reminder of Romsey’s association with the wool trade. St Blaize was the patron saint of woolcombers. The present house was built in 1708.

The core of the house is timber framed and has a massive central chimney stack which used to have a bread oven.
